Brazilian soccer star Vinicius Jr. and his girlfriend, influencer and TV personality Virginia Fonseca, ended their relationship, she announced Friday.
Fonseca, who has 54.8 million Instagram followers, posted about the split on the social media platform. She confirmed her relationship with Vinicius Jr., who has 59.7 million followers, in October.
“Today we chose to respect each other and each follow our own path,” Fonseca wrote on her Instagram story. “I wish Vinicius much happiness and great success, and all of that with much affection.
“I ask for everyone’s respect so that this may be a closed chapter in each of our lives, just as it will be in mine.”

On Thursday, the Danbury, Conn., born influencer posted footage from Madrid, where she watched Vinicius Jr. and Real Madrid beat Real Oviedo at the Bernabeu. That footage included her cheering for Vinicius during player introductions.
Vinicius Jr., widely regarded as one of the world’s top soccer players, was included in Brazil’s 55-man preliminary World Cup roster, which was released earlier this week. Neymar Jr., Raphinha, Alisson, Casemiro and Marquinhos are among the other notable players on the roster.
The Brazilians, who sit at No. 6 in the FIFA world rankings, are among the Top 5 favorites to win the 2026 World Cup. They will battle No. 8 Morocco in their Group C opener at 6 p.m. EDT June 13 in East Rutherford, N.J.
The Brazilians will play two pre-World Cup friendlies, on May 31 and June 6, against respective foes Panama and Egypt.
