Spanish midfielder Alexia Putellas will leave Barcelona after 14 years, the two-time Ballon d’Or Ferminin award winner announced Tuesday.
The 32-year-old will make her final appearance for the Spanish Liga F soccer club against Real Sociedad on Wednesday in Barcelona. Putellas, who made her Barcelona senior team debut in 2012 is the club’s all-time leader in goals, with 233.
Putellas, who also spent time with Espanyol and Levante, is widely regarded as one of the best women’s players of the 21st century.
“I have no words to describe what it has meant to live all this alongside my teammates,” Putellas said in a video posted to her Instagram account. “To those who paved the way, and those of us who came later to write this eternal legacy together.
“To those who are coming after us, you already know what I will always tell you: the pressure and this jersey are a privilege. The future of the team belongs to you and it will be your turn to make history at the best club in the world.”

Putellas won 38 titles over her 14 seasons with the club. That haul includes 10 league crowns, 10 Queen’s Cups, six Spanish Super Cups and eight Catalonia Cups, in addition to the Champions League titles.
Putellas logged 20 goals through 42 appearances in 2025-26. She helped Barcelona win a fourth Champions League crown in six years last weekend and was named Champions League Player of the Season for a second time.
Putellas’ 40 international goals are the second-most in the history of the Spanish women’s national team, for which she has a record 146 appearances. The 2023 World Cup champion did not say where she wants to play next.
Barcelona (27-1-0) clinched a seventh-consecutive Liga F title in April.
